A virtual robowaifu is a simulated female robot companion that can interact with human users or other virtual characters in a virtual or augmented reality environment. In contrast to a virtual waifu, a virtual robowaifu runs within a robotics simulation, which is used to create applications for a physical robowaifu without depending on an actual machine, thus saving cost and time. It can be used to test robotic components for performance, as well as model, program and simulate them, generate synthetic data and detect collision risks before the robot body is built.

Like virtual waifus, virtual robowaifus can respond to user input in a variety of ways through text, gesture or voice commands and do so intelligently with natural language understanding. Although physics simulations are more costly to run they can provide a more nuanced and immersive experience than a typical virtual waifu relying on handcrafted animations.
