Self-actualization is self-fulfillment, namely the tendency for the individual to become actualized in what he is potentially, to become everything that he is capable of becoming.
To attain self-actualization an individual must first secure their human needs:
- Physiological needs: air, water, food, shelter, sleep, clothing, touch, reproduction
- Safety needs: personal security, employment, resources, health, property
- Love and belonging: friendship, intimacy, family, sense of connection
- Esteem: respect, self-esteem, status, recognition, strength, freedom
- Self-actualization: desire to become the most that one can be
